Best Bear Reference Checking - Disclaimer

We recommend that you obtain at least three references - because of this we offer a discounted rate when you ask us to obtain 3 references for your potential employee of just £60 (+vat). Our price for one reference is £25 +vat, two references are £40 +vat. If you choose this option, and you find that you need to obtain references for another childcarer (eg if the first one turned out to not be suitable) then we offer you a further discounted rate of just £50 +vat for 3 additional references for another childcarer.

Whilst Best Bear endeavours to verify the background of the childcarer/s for whom we are checking references; we cannot guarantee that all information regarding the childcarer is accurate. It is the your responsibility to satisfy yourself as to their suitability, qualifications and references before offering the applicant employment.

7–10 days is our target for the written report, however in some instances we will not be able to get hold of referees during this time period (for instance if they are away on holiday or if we are given incomplete information) and therefore we reserve the right to extend this period if necessary. We will always endeavour to produce the report for you as quickly as we can, and always within 7-10 days if possible.
To be eligible for the special offer of 3 references for £60 +vat all three references must relate to the same candidate and must be requested/booked with the Best Bear team at the same time. This also applies to the offer of £50 +vat for subsequent references for a different candidate (ie must be for the same candidate and booked at the same time).

Return, refund and cancellation policy

Your request for references can be terminated at any time by you upon written notification to us. We will provide refunds as per the Distance Selling Regulations, as detailed below.

The Distance Selling Regulations would ordinarily say that you have 7 days from the date of confirmation from us of your order to change your mind and cancel the order. In this instance we would provide a full refund of the cost of the service. However, if you agree to the Reference Checking Service starting during the 7 day cooling off period then it is important that you are aware that the Distance Selling Regulations do not apply once the service has commenced even if this is during the 7 day cooling off period, and no refunds will be given without valid cause and subject to your statutory rights.

We want you to be happy with any service we provide to you. Whilst our legal position is spelt out in plain English above, we will consider a refund in any case where there is proper cause for complaint. We will do all we can to help you. Please contact us to discuss further if you feel you have a valid case for a refund. Refunds will not be given for delays in checking the references for circumstances that are outside of our control.
